Château Angélus

History

Château Angélus is located less than one kilometre from the Saint-Émilion bell tower, on the prized south-facing “foot of the hill” slope. The estate has been nurtured by the Boüard de Laforest family for eight generations, reflecting a long-standing continuity of stewardship.

Although formally founded in 1921, the property was classified as a Grand Cru Classé in 1954, at a time when it already enjoyed a strong reputation. This recognition helped the estate navigate the Bordeaux crisis of the 1970s.

In the 1980s, Hubert de Boüard, a trained oenologist, initiated a period of renewed development. His work combined established tradition with modern techniques, shaping a new chapter in the estate’s evolution.
