Ripa Della Volta
History
Founded in 2015 by Andrea Pernigo, Ripa della Volta emerged in the heart of Valpantena, part of the historic Valpolicella region known as the “Valley of the Gods.” Pernigo envisioned a winery built on the values of respect for the land, organic viticulture, and authentic terroir expression. From the very beginning, the goal was to create wines that truly reflect the character and heritage of Valpantena while embracing innovation and sustainability
Ripa della Volta has since developed as an integrated agricultural model, combining ecological stewardship, precision viticulture, and micro-vinification experimentation. All vineyards are farmed organically, managed in-house to ensure full control of the entire winemaking process, from vine to bottle. In 2025, the estate was recognized by Forbes Italia as one of the “100 Iconic Wineries & Maestri del Calice,” and received a Special Prize for excellence in agronomic management, highlighting its innovative and sustainable practice.
The Vineyards
The estate cultivates approximately 15 ha of organically certified vineyards situated between 350 and 550 m asl within Valpantena, enjoying a microclimate shaped by ventilating breezes from the Lessini Mountains and pronounced day-night temperature variation. The soils are marly and calcareous with an abundant rocky skeleton, offering vitality to autochthonous varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta, Spigamonte, and Turchetta.
The vineyards reflect harmony with the land, a place where aromatic herbs and wild greenery grow alongside vines, embodying the estate’s belief that viticulture is part of a broader ecological whole.
The Cellar
The cellar is seamlessly integrated within the Valpantena farm, including vinification facilities and hospitality spaces. It stands as a hub for innovation and grounded tradition, embodying provincial elegance and functional design. The winery includes an agribistrot called Oasi Delle Stelle, where visitors connect with the terroir through wine, local cuisine, and environmental storytelling.
Although compact, the site is thoughtfully arranged to support both micro-vinifications and scaleappropriate production. It embodies Ripa Della Volta’s vision: a working winery that champions agricultural integration, biodiversity, and a philosophy of “wine as ecosystem”, where every element from vine to tasting room tells a unified story of place and purpose
